Coal exports from PWCS down 10.56 percent in Feb from Jan

Coal exports from Port Waratah Coal Services (PWCS) terminals based at Port of Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia, totaled 8.97 million mt in February this year, decreasing by 10.56 percent compared to January, according to the company's announcement. 11 percent of the total coal handled at the terminals in February was coking coal.
 
According to the the released information, Japan was the largest export destination for coal shipments from PWCS in February this year, with shipments to Japan accounting for 51.15 percent of total shipments, while coal exports to South Korea made up 16.39 percent of the total.
 
PWCS accounts for one third of Austrlia's exports of coal, which is the country's second most important export commodity in terms of value.
