In the week ended June 2, coal shipments from the Port of Newcastle in Queensland, the coal producing state of
Australia, totaled 2.91 million mt, according to Newcastle Port Corporation. The figure constitutes an increase of 4.22 percent compared to the previous week ended May 26, in which a week-on-week decrease of 19.06 percent in coal shipments had been observed.
In the first two days of June, Newcastle port exported 554,431 mt of thermal and
coking coal.
Anglo American, Peabody Energy, Rio Tinto and Xstrata are some of the larger exporters to ship coal from Newcastle port.
