In the week ended November 19, coal shipments from the Port of Newcastle in Queensland, the coal producing state of Australia, totaled 2.7 million mt, according to Newcastle Port Corporation. The figure constitutes a decrease of 13.2 percent compared to the previous week.
The port authority has increased its forecast for coal exports from Newcastle port to a total of 10,817,808 mt for the whole of November. In October this year, Newcastle port exported more than 11 million mt of thermal and coking coal.
Anglo American, Peabody Energy, Rio Tinto and Xstrata are some of the larger exporters to ship coal from Newcastle port.
