China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), the country's largest oil and gas producer, has stated that it is planning to double the volume of pipeline it lays in
China during the period of the country's 12th five-year plan period (2011-2015), compared to the total length of pipelines laid during the previous five-year period.
CNPC built 270,000 km of pipelines during
China's 11th five-year plan period (2006-2010), exceeding the total laid in the previous 42 years, the company stated. The overall length laid will reach 540,000 km by the end of 2015.
In 2010, CNPC completed a number of major gas projects including the 1,393 km-long eastern section of the second pipeline of the country's flagship West-East Gas Pipeline Project.
