CMC promotes Alvarado to CEO

Irving, Texas-based steelmaker Commercial Metals Company (CMC) announced Monday that effective September 1 of this year, CMC President and Chief Operating Officer Joe Alvarado will assume the role of President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Current CEO Murray R. McClean will continue to serve as CMC CEO through August 31, 2011, and will continue to serve as Executive Chairman of the Board through August 31, 2012.

Alvarado is the former President of US Tubular Products, Inc. (a division of US Steel) and was the President of Lone Star Technologies prior to its acquisition by US Steel.
