The China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) has issued China's steel import and export statistics for July this year.
In July this year, China's finished steel imports and exports totaled 1,158,000 mt and 4,319,700 mt, down 6.6 percent and 2.8 percent respectively, both year on year. Accordingly, the country's net finished steel exports in the given month amounted to 3,161,700 mt, compared to 3,205,300 mt in July last year. In the January-July period of the current year, China's net finished steel exports amounted to 23,438,400mt, up 20.23 percent compared to 19,498,800 mt in the same period last year.
In July of the current year, China's semi-finished steel imports and exports totaled 28,100 mt and 100 mt respectively, compared to 43,600 mt and 100mt in July last year. Meanwhile, China's net semi-finished steel in January-July amounted to 220,500 mt, compared to 314,600 mt in the same period last year.
Of China's total finished steel import volume in July, flat rolled steel accounted for 83.88 percent, rebar and wire rod accounted for 7.76 percent, with 2.43 percent consisting of angles and section steel. In the given month, China's imports of flat rolled steel, rebar and wire rod, and angles and section steel declined by 7.5 percent, 9.7 percent and 2.7 percent respectively, all year on year.
In July this year, of China's total finished steel exports, flat rolled steel accounted for 45.29 percent, rebar and wire rod for 20.25 percent, and angles and section steel for 5.75 percent. In the given month, China's exports of flat rolled steel declined by 21.7 percent, while its exports of rebar and wire rod and of angles and section steel increased by 59.5 percent and 22.6 percent respectively, all year on year.
