CISA: China's average daily crude steel output decreases in late Dec

On January 9, the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) announced that in late December (Dec. 21-31) last year the average aggregate daily crude steel output of large and medium-sized steel enterprises in China totaled 1.638 million mt, down 3.2 percent compared to mid-December (Dec. 11-20). Meanwhile, the average aggregate daily crude steel production of all steelmakers in China in late December was estimated at 1.961 million mt, indicating a decrease of 2.7 percent compared with mid-December.

According to the CISA's previous figures, in mid-December last year the average aggregate daily crude steel output of large and medium-sized steel enterprises in China had amounted to 1.692 million mt, down 0.18 percent compared to early December (Dec. 1-10). In mid-December, the average aggregate daily crude steel production of all steelmakers in China was estimated at 2.014 million mt, indicating a slight increase of 0.06 percent compared with early December.

Meanwhile, as of December 31, 2013, overall inventory of the main finished steel products in the major steel markets in China totaled 12.875 million mt, down 6.9 percent as compared to the figure recorded on December 20.
