CIB: Turkish rebar mills receive low preliminary margins in US AD case

Regarding announcement by the US Department of Commerce (DOC) of preliminary dumping margins of 0.00 percent and 2.64 percent, respectively, for Turkish rebar producers Habas Sinai ve Tibbi Gazlar Istihsal Endustrisi A.S. and Icdas Celik Enerji Tersane ve Ulasim Sanayi A.S. in the antidumping duty (AD) investigations of imports of steel concrete reinforcing bar from Mexico and Turkey, Turkish Steel Exporters' Association (CIB) chairman Namık Ekinci has stated that, while this a preliminary decision, the final decision is expected to be announced in September this year.

"Despite the letter recently sent by 31 US Senate representatives to the US DOC requesting an antidumping duty for Turkish rebar imports, we believe that the US DOC's judgment will be fair and the antidumping duty investigation will result in favor of Turkey. We hope the free trade between the two countries will continue without any unfair barriers," said Mr. Ekinci.

The CIB's statement recalled that there is also an ongoing countervailing duty investigation in the US against Turkish rebar imports, which had found de minimis subsidy rates in the preliminary results announced in February this year.
