One of the largest Russian pipe producers, ChTPZ Group, has announced that its subsidiary Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant (ChTPZ) has manufactured its first lot of large diameter (LD) pipes from plates produced at Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works' (MMK) new plate rolling mill 5000.

Accordingly, the LD pipes of 1,020 mm diameter and 11 mm wall thickness of K52 strength class were manufactured to meet current orders for oil and gas companies. After passing the required tests, the pipes will be delivered to the customers.

In the future, the plates produced at MMK's mill 5000 will be supplied to ChTPZ for the manufacture of single-welded LD pipes at its new pipe electric-welding workshop, the commissioning of which is scheduled for 2010.
