Chongqing Steel sees 11 percent fall in crude steel output in H1

In the first half of the current year, Chinese steelmaker Chongqing Steel (Chonggang) produced 2.6972 million mt of pig iron, down 6.95 percent, 2.8027 million mt of crude steel, down 10.91 percent, and 2.5288 million mt of finished steel, down 11.77 percent, all year on year, as reported by local Chinese media sources.

In June alone, Chonging Steel produced 485,300 mt of pig iron, up 3.41 percent, 491,600 mt of crude steel, up 4.55 percent, and 443,900 mt of finished steel, up 9.69 percent, all month on month. In June, Chongqing Steel's blast furnace No. 2 at its iron works produced 168,107 mt of pig iron, constituting the highest monthly output figure at BF No. 2 so far in the current year, with an average daily output of 5,604 mt.
