Chongqing Steel posts net loss of RMB 2.499 billion for 2013

Chinese steelmaker Chongqing Iron and Steel Co. (Chongqing Steel), a subsidiary of Chongqing Iron and Steel (Group) Co., has issued its financial results for 2013, posting an operating revenue of RMB 17.563 billion ($2.87 billion), down 4.85 percent year on year, and a net loss of RMB 2.499 billion ($0.41 billion), compared to a net profit of RMB 98.813 million in 2012.

In 2013, Chongqing Steel produced 2.7003 million mt of metallurgical coke, 5.6176 million mt of pig iron, 5.6986 million mt of crude steel and 5.3045 million mt of finished steel, up 14.92 percent, 9.41 percent, 9.13 percent and 12.73 percent, respectively.

In 2014, Chongqing Steel plans to produce 6.24 million mt of pig iron, 6 million mt of crude steel and 5.55 million mt of finished steel.
