Chinese steel prices in Mexico decline in Jan-July

The price of the finished steel imported from China to Mexico in the January-July period has declined 9 percent, year-on-year, according to a media report.

The average price of the foreign steel reached $612/mt in Mexico in the seven-month period. China sent 637,000 mt of finished steel to Mexico in the period, 46.7 percent up, year-on-year, from 434,000 mt, according to the report.

The price of the long steel imported from China declined 26 percent, year-on-year, to an average price of $478/mt.

Flat steel prices for the Asian product in Mexico fell 2 percent in the same period, reaching an average price of $631/mt.
