Chinese steel exports exceed 5 million mt in March

According to the Chinese customs authorities, in March this year China's steel exports amounted to 5.03 million mt, up 1.64 million mt from February and up 2.44 percent as compared to the same month last year, exceeding 5 million mt for the first time since July 2010. In the first quarter this year, China's total steel exports reached 12.15 million mt, rising by 15.8 percent year on year.

In March, China imported 1.27 million mt of steel products, indicating an increase of 30,000 mt compared to February but down 20.47 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the first three months of the year China imported 3.41 million mt of steel, decreasing by 18.4 percent year on year.
