China's PPI down 5.4 percent in July

In July this year, China's producer price index (PPI) decreased by 5.4 percent year on year and was down 0.7 percent month on month, according to data released by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on August 9. Meanwhile, in July Chinese industrial producers' purchase prices were down 6.1 percent year on year and decreased by 0.6 percent compared to June.
 
As for the average price index in the January-July period of the current year, China's producer price index (PPI) decreased by 4.7 percent year on year, while Chinese industrial producers' purchase prices were down 5.6 percent year on year.
 
In July, the PPI for capital goods decreased by 6.9 percent year on year. Specifically, in July this year the PPI for the domestic raw material industry was down 9.7 percent year on year while the index for the processing industry declined by 4.5 percent year on year.
