In August this year, China produced 24,500 new energy vehicles, almost quadrupling on year-on-year basis, including 9,175 pure electric passenger cars, 6,778 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, 6,446 pure electric commercial vehicles and 2,142 plug-in hybrid electric commercial vehicles, according to the latest data issued by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
In the January-August period of the year, China’s new energy vehicle output amounted to 123,500 units, tripling on year-on-year basis, including 52,100 pure electric passenger cars, 32,800 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, 28,300 pure electric commercial vehicles and 10,200 plug-in hybrid electric commercial vehicles.
