China's MIIT orders Chongqing to eliminate backward capacities

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has ordered the authorities in the city of Chongqing to eliminate backward production capacities in eight industries in 2011. The capacity elimination targets in question include million mt of annual coke capacity, 50,000 mt of ferroalloy capacity, 1,000 mt of copper output capacity, 45,000 mt of lead production capacity and 4.6 million mt of annual cement output capacity.
