China’s foreign trade value down 7.5 percent in January-August

In August this year, China’s total foreign trade value amounted to $333.53 billion, indicating a month-on-month decrease of 3.9 percent and a year-on-year decline of 9.1 percent, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities. In the given month, the total value of China’s exports amounted to $196.883 billion, up 1.0 percent month on month and decreasing by 5.5 percent year on year, while Chinese imports totaled $136.647 billion in value, down 10.0 percent month on month and declining by 13.8 percent year on year, resulting in a trade surplus of $60.236 billion.

In the January-August period of the current year, China’s total foreign trade value amounted to $2.55755 trillion, down 7.5 percent year on year, while the total value of China’s exports and imports amounted to $1.461523 trillion and $1.096027 trillion, down 1.4 percent and declining by 14.5 percent year on year, respectively, resulting in a trade surplus of $365.496 billion in the given period.
