China’s value-added industrial output up six percent in December 2016

In December last year, China's overall value-added industrial output increased by 6.0 percent year on year, with this growth rate 0.2 percentage points lower compared to that recorded in November, as announced by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on January 23. Meanwhile, in 2016 China’s overall value-added industrial output increased by six percent year on year.

In December last year, of the 41 industrial sectors in China, 33 witnessed year-on-year increases in value-added industrial output. In the given month, respective year-on-year increases of 8.4 percent, 16.2 percent, 13.5 percent and 7.2 percent were recorded in value-added industrial outputs in the general purpose machinery sector, the automotive sector, the computer, communications and other electronic equipment manufacturing sector, and the electrical equipment and machinery sector, while the ferrous metal smelting and rolling sector and the shipping, aerospace and other transportation equipment manufacturing sector saw year-on-year decreases of 1.9 percent and 13.1 percent in value-added industrial output, respectively.
