China’s trade surplus rises to $68.3 billion

China's trade surplus amounted to $68.3 billion in the first nine months of the year as exports surged 31.3 percent year on year. China's General Administration of Customs disclosed that the country's exports rose 25.9 percent year on year to $70.2 billion in September, while imports increased 23.5 percent to $62.6 billion. Accordingly, the trade surplus amounted to $7.6 billion in September, with the higher-than expected growth in imports pulling the surplus lower than some economists had forecast.
