China's total foreign trade value increases by 7.6 percent in 2013

In December last year, China's total foreign trade value amounted to $389.844 billion, up 5.2 month on month and increasing by 6.2 percent year on year, as announced by China's General Administration of Customs on January 10.
 
In particular, China's total export value in the given month reached $207.742 billion, up by 2.7 percent month on month and rising by 4.3 percent year on year, while the total value of its imports amounted to $182.102 billion, up by 8.1 percent month on month and increasing by 8.3 percent year on year. Accordingly, China's trade surplus in the given month totaled $25.641 billion, up 8.4 percent year on year.
 
In the whole of 2013, the total value of China's external trade amounted to $4.160331 trillion, increasing by 7.6 percent year on year. China's total export value in the given year reached $2.210042 trillion, an increase of 7.9 percent, while the total value of China's imports amounted to $1.950289 trillion, up 7.3 percent, both year on year. China's trade surplus last year totaled $259.753 billion.
 
In 2013, the total bilateral trade value between China and the EU amounted to $559.06 billion, increasing by 2.1 percent year on year, the total bilateral trade value between China and the US amounted to $521 billion, up 7.5 percent year on year, while the overall value of trade between China and Japan amounted to $312.55 billion, decreasing by 5.1 percent year on year. Meanwhile, trade with the abovementioned three regions accounted for 33.5 percent of China's total foreign trade value, down by 1.7 percentage points year on year.
 
On the other hand, the total bilateral trade value between China and ASEAN countries, South Africa and five Central Asian countries amounted to $443.61 billion, $65.15 billion and $50.28 billion, increasing by 10.9 percent, 8.6 percent and 9.4 percent year on year, respectively.
