China's steel sector PMI decreases to 45.1 percent in June

In June this year, the purchasing managers index (PMI) for the Chinese steel sector was at 45.1 percent, down 5.8 percentage points as compared to May, as announced by the China Steel Logistics Committee (CSLC), which is part of the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing (CFLP).

In addition, in June the production index for the steel sector decreased by 11.2 percentage points compared to the previous month to 42.5 percent. Meanwhile, in June the sub-index for new orders saw a decrease of 9.4 percentage points month on month to 43.3 percent.

In the given month, the finished steel inventory index decreased to 49.3 percent, down 0.9 percentage points month on month, the index for new export orders saw a month-on-month decrease of 6.8 percentage points to 51.3 percent, while the purchase price index in the Chinese steel sector stood at 50.4 percent, indicating a decrease of 10.5 percentage points month on month.
