China’s steel plate imports down 2.9 percent in June

In June this year, China’s import volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, steel plate, and steel pipes and hollow sections amounted to 100,000 mt, 30,000 mt, 970,000 mt, and 30,000 mt, up 13.4 percent, down 27.9 percent, down 2.9 percent and decreasing by 2.5 percent, respectively, year on year, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities. 

In the first half of the current year, China’s import volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, steel plate, and steel pipes and hollow sections amounted to 580,000 mt, 160,000 mt, 5.44 million mt, and 180,000 mt, up 8.8 percent, down 27.1 percent, down 2.9 percent and decreasing by 2.8 percent, respectively, year on year.
