In July this year, China’s import volumes of steel bars, angles/channels and steel plate amounted to 90,000 mt, 20,000 mt and 810,000 mt, down 8.3 percent, 0.1 percent, and 15.1 percent, respectively, year on year, while import volume of steel pipes and hollow profiles totaled 40,000 mt, up 23.5 percent year on year, according to the monthly import and export data issued by the Chinese customs authorities.
In the January-July period of the current year, China’s import volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, steel plate, and steel pipes and hollow profiles amounted to 730,000 mt, 230,000 mt, 6.47 million mt, and 230,000 mt, up 6.4 percent, 26.9 percent, 1.1 percent and 8.6 percent, respectively, year on year.
As previously reported by SteelOrbis, in July this year China imported 0.98 million mt of finished steel, down 12.8 percent year on year. In the January-July period, China’s imports of finished steel totaled 7.79 million mt, rising by 2.6 percent year on year.
