In the January-July period of the current year, the aggregate shipbuilding output in China amounted to 22.69 million deadweight tons (dwt), up 9.8 percent year on year, according to the figures released by the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI).
In the given period, China’s new ship orders amounted to 14 million dwt, down 69.4 percent year on year. As of the end of July, ship orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises totaled 136.7 million dwt, down 10.9 percent year on year and decreasing by 8.5 percent compared to the end of 2014.
In the January-July period of the current year, the aggregate shipbuilding output for export orders in China totaled 20.22 million dwt, up 11.6 percent year on year and accounting for 89.1 percent of the total shipbuilding output in China in the given period. Meanwhile, China’s new ship export orders in the period in question amounted to 11.90 million dwt, down 72.2 percent year on year and constituting 85 percent of total new ship orders. As of the end of July, ship export orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises totaled 129.87 million dwt, down 10.4 percent year on year and constituting 95 percent of total ship orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises.
