In the January-November period of the current year, the aggregate shipbuilding output in China amounted to 36.20 million deadweight tons (dwt), up 10.9 percent year on year as announced by the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI) on December 15. In the given period, China’s new ship orders amounted to 23.19 million dwt, decreasing by 59.1 percent year on year. As of the end of November, ship orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises totaled 129.39 million dwt, down 15.1 percent year on year and decreasing by 13.4 percent compared to the end of 2014.
In the January-November period of the current year, the aggregate shipbuilding output for export orders in China totaled 31.87 million dead weight tons (dwt), up 13.7 percent year on year and accounting for 88 percent of the total shipbuilding output in China in the given period. Meanwhile, China’s new ship export orders in the period in question amounted to 20.56 million dwt, down 61.4 percent year on year and constituting 88.6 percent of total new ship orders. As of the end of November, ship export orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises totaled 123.55 million dwt, down 15.1 percent year on year and constituting 95.5 percent of total ship orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises.
