China’s Shaanxi Province eyes coal output capacity of 600 million mt by 2015

The government of the Chinese province of Shaanxi has stated that during China's 12th five-year plan period (2011-15) the province will invest RMB 157 billion ($24.92 billion) in its coal industry. The investment will include 54 new coal projects, creating an additional annual output capacity of 240 million mt. By the end of 2015, the annual coal output capacity in Shaanxi is expected to exceed 600 million mt.

In 2011, the coal output of Shaanxi Province reached 400 million mt, ranking third among Chinese provinces.
