On April 22, Austria-based plantmaker Siemens VAI Metals Technologies announced that it has received an order from Chinese steelmaker Quzhou Yuanli Metal Products Co., Ltd. (Quzhou Yuanli) to supply a bar reducing/sizing mill. The equipment will be incorporated into the mill layout for a completely new bar mill to be erected in Quzhou City, Zhejiang Province of China. The mill will produce 800,000 metric tons per year of special bar quality (SBQ) steel grades. Commissioning is expected for early 2011.
Quzhou Yuanli´s new mill will produce bars ranging from 25 mm to 60 mm through the bar reducing/sizing mill.
Established in 1991, Quzhou Yuanli is an integrated iron and steel works manufacturer with an annual steel output of 500,000 metric tons and 300,000 metric tons of metal products. In 2007, Siemens VAI commissioned a rod mill for Yuanli at the same site.
