China's PPI down 4.6 percent in April

In April this year, China's producer price index (PPI) decreased by 4.6 percent year on year and was down 0.3 percent month on month, according to data released by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on May 9. Meanwhile, in April Chinese industrial producers' purchase prices were down 5.5 percent year on year and declined by 0.2 percent from the previous month.
As for the average price index in the January-April period of the current year, China's producer price index (PPI) decreased by 4.6 percent year on year, while Chinese industrial producers' purchase prices were down 5.6 percent year on year.

In April, the PPI for capital goods decreased by 5.9 percent year on year and was down 0.3 percent from the previous month. Specifically, in April this year the PPI for the domestic raw material industry was down 8.3 percent year on year and decreased by 1.1 percent month on month, while the index for the processing industry declined by 3.5 percent year on year and decreased by 0.3 percent month on month.
