China’s pig iron output up 12 percent in November

In November this year, global pig iron production amounted to 87 million metric tons, decreasing by 4.1 percent compared to the previous month and up 5.3 percent on year-on-year basis, according to the preliminary data covering 38 countries released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel).

In the meantime, in the first 11 months of this year, world pig iron production amounted to 1 billion metric tons, rising by 1.8 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2011.

In November this year, the top pig iron producer in the world according to worldsteel was again China with 51.4 million mt, down five percent compared to October and up 12 percent year on year, constituting 59 percent of global pig iron production. Japan followed China with 6.6 million mt of pig iron production in November, declining three percent month on month.
