China’s overall rail freight volume down 7.5 percent in H1

In the first half of the current year, the overall freight volume transported on China’s railways amounted to 1.58 billion mt, down 7.5 percent, while the freight traffic volume on the country’s railways totaled 1.1149 trillion mt-km, declining by 7.5 percent, both year on year, according to the latest data issued by China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).

In the first half of the current year, the overall passenger volume on China’s railways amounted to 1.37 billion, up 12.4 percent year on year, while the passenger traffic volume on the country’s railways totaled 618.1 billion person-km, rising by six percent year on year.
