China’s overall rail freight volume down 11.4 percent in Jan-Sept

China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has announced that in September this year the overall freight volume transported on China’s railways amounted to 270 million mt, down 15.6 percent year on year, while the freight traffic volume on the country’s railways totaled 186.4 billion mt-km, decreasing by 18.8 percent year on year.

In the January-September period of the current year, freight volumes on China’s railways totaled 2.53 billion mt, down 11.4 percent, while the freight traffic volume amounted to 1.7761 trillion mt-km, decreasing by 13.2 percent, both year on year.
