China’s June daily steel output exceeds 1.5 million mt

In June, China's daily output of crude steel exceeded the level of 1.5 million mt for the first time ever, hitting an historical high of 1.5648 million mt. The outputs of hot rolled coils and medium plate continued to jump up sharply, while rebar and other steel products showed negative growth in their outputs.

China's crude steel production in June totaled 46.9444 million mt, up 4.3368 million mt or 10.18 percent year on year. Average daily production during the month reached 1.5648 million mt, up 80,600 mt or 5.4 percent month on month and up 144,500 mt year on year. Meanwhile, crude steel production for the January-June period reached 263.1948 million mt, up 23.0723 million mt or 9.6 percent year on year.

China's pig iron production in June totaled 43.3916 million mt, up 2.7894 million mt or 6.87 percent year on year. At the same time, total pig iron production in the January-June period reached 246.4218 million mt, up 18.0296 million mt or 7.89 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2007.

China's finished steel production for June totaled 53.8727 million mt, up 5.3242 million mt or 10.7 percent year on year. On the other hand, national finished steel production from January to June inclusive reached 299.966 million mt, up 33.3425 million mt or 12.51 percent.

Taking imports and exports into consideration, the newly-added supply of crude steel to China's market in June totaled 41.4344 million mt, up 14.5 percent year on year. In the month of June, China's exports of crude steel accounted for 11.7 percent of total national crude steel production; meanwhile, crude steel exports in the first half of this year covered 10.8 percent of total production.

China's coke output for June totaled 31.1977 million mt, up 2.3892 million mt or 8.92 percent year on year. Meanwhile, national coke output for the January-June period reached 172.3147 million mt, up 17.6637 million mt or 11.42 percent year on year.

China's ferroalloy output totaled 1.895 million mt in June, up 230,400 mt or 13.84 percent year on year. For the January-June period, on the other hand, national ferroalloy production reached 9.5669 million mt, up 1.4186 million mt or 17.4 percent year on year.

In June, China's iron ore output totaled 81.5635 million mt, up 17.4123 million mt or 27.14 percent compared with the same month last year. The January-June iron ore output reached 391.3788 million mt, up 80.3243 million mt or 25.8 percent year on year.
