The authorities in China's Jiangxi Province have issued a stricter policy to control the rapid growth of local high-energy consuming sectors, to step up the elimination of out-of-date production capacities and to speed up the implementation of energy-saving programs.

In the first half of the current year, Jiangxi Province's total energy consumption increased by 13.4 percent as compared to the same period last year. To tackle the increasing energy consumption trend, the Jiangxi authorities have decided on tighter measures affecting energy consumption for the remainder of the year.

Accordingly, Jiangxi Province will close down dated production capacities including 1.08 million mt of iron-making capacity, 878,000 mt of steelmaking capacity, 300,000 mt of coke production capacity, 196,900 mt of copper output capacity, and 7.02 million mt of cement production capacity.
