China’s iron ore imports up 9.3 percent in January-August

In August this year, China’s imports of iron ore and iron ore concentrate amounted to 87.72 million mt, down 0.77 percent month on month and increasing by 18.3 percent year on year, while in the January-August period this year China’s imports of iron ore and iron ore concentrate totaled 669.65 million mt, up 9.3 percent year on year, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities on September 8.

In August this year, China imported 1.11 million mt of finished steel, down 1.77 percent month on month and increasing by 8.8 percent year on year. In the January-August period of the current year, China’s imports of finished steel totaled 8.70 million mt, declining by 0.2 percent year on year.
