China’s Gansu Province to close down 42 coal mines by end of 2011

In line with the guidelines of China's State Council on mining development, the government of the Chinese province of Gansu has decided to close down 42 coal mines in the province by the end of 2011.
 
The mines in question are located near the cities of Jinchan, Wuwei, Zhangye and Baiyin.
