China’s domestic iron ore projects under construction reach total capacity of 120 million mt

According to the chairman of the Metallurgical Mines Association of China, Mr. Zou Jian, there are currently 17 iron ore projects of capacities above 2 million mt under construction in China, with a total production capacity amounting to 120 million mt. The projects in question are due to officially commence production operations in the next two to three years.

The projects with capacities above 10 million mt are as follows: Yuanjiacun Iron Ore Mine of Taiyuan Iron and Steel - 22 million mt, the second phase of Sijiaying Iron Mine of Tangshan Iron & Steel Co. - 15 million mt, Huoqiu Iron Ore Mine in Anhui Province - 14.5 million mt, and Baiyun Western Mine of Baotou Steel - 100 million mt. In addition, Luohe Iron Ore Mine of Maanshan Steel will have a capacity of 5 million mt, while Xingshan Iron Ore Mine of Shougang Group will hold a capacity of 4 million mt.
