China’s crude steel output rises by 20.7 percent in May

According to the latest data issued by China's National Bureau of Statistics, in May this year China's crude steel production increased by 20.7 percent year on year to 56.14 million mt. The average daily output in May was 1.811 million mt.

In May, China's pig iron production reached 52.26 million mt, rising by 14.3 percent, while its finished steel production increased by 23.6 percent to 71.22 million mt, both compared with the corresponding period of last year.

During the first five months of this year, China's outputs of crude steel, pig iron and finished steel respectively amounted to 268.9 million mt, 253.9 million mt and 326.29 million mt, registering a year-on-year rises of 23.8 percent, 20.6 percent and 27.5 percent.
