According to the preliminary data issued by the World Steel Association (worldsteel) on August 20, in July China's crude steel output reached 51.74 million mt, up by 2.2 percent, while global crude steel output amounted to 114.79 million mt, up by 9.6 percent, both compared with the same month last year. However, in June this year, China had produced 53.9 million mt of crude steel, while total worldwide output of crude steel in the same month was 119 million mt. Thus, China's crude steel output in July declined by four percent month on month, exceeding the three percent month-on-month decrease in global crude steel output.
