In August this year, China produced 60.19 million mt of pig iron, 68.57 million mt of crude steel and 97.91 million mt of finished steel, indicating respective increases of 3.6 percent, three percent and four percent year on year, as announced by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on September 13.
In the January-August period of the current year, China produced 469.16 million mt of pig iron, 536.32 million mt of crude steel and 755.11 million mt of finished steel, down 0.8 percent, decreasing by 0.1 percent and increasing by 2.2 year on year, respectively.
