China's CPI rises 6.5 percent in August

According to the latest data released by China's National Bureau of Statistics, the country's consumer price index (CPI) rose by 6.5 percent year on year in August.

During the month in question, food prices ballooned by 18.2 percent, while the prices of non-food products gained 0.9 percent. The prices of consumer goods rose 8.0 percent, while the prices of services increased by 1.8 percent. In terms of month on month growth, August's CPI was up by 1.2 percent compared with the previous month.

From January to August, the cumulative CPI rose by 3.9 percent year on year.
