China’s coal shipments by railway up 0.5 percent in January-May

China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has announced that in May of the current year coal shipments by Chinese railways amounted to 189 million mt, down 0.2 percent year on year, while in the January-May period this year shipments totaled 960 million mt, up 0.5 percent year on year.
 
In the first five months, the railway line from Datong, Shanxi Province to Qinhuangdao, Hebei Province transported 186 million mt of coal, up 1.7 percent, while the railway line from Houma, Shanxi to Yueshan, Henan transported 76.33 million mt of coal, up 1.8 percent, both year on year.
 
According to Chinese customs data, in the January-May period this year China imported 135 million mt coal, down 0.9 percent year on year, while it exported 2.76 million mt of coal, down 23.1 percent year on year.
