China’s coal shipments by railway rise slightly in January-September

China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has announced that in September of the current year coal shipments by Chinese railways amounted to 186 million mt, down 4.3 percent year on year, while in the January-September period shipments totaled 1.72 billion mt, up 0.3 percent year on year.

In the first nine months, the railway line from Datong, Shanxi Province to Qinhuangdao, Hebei Province transported 340 million mt of coal, up 2.2 percent, while the railway line from Houma, Shanxi to Yueshan, Henan transported 140 million mt of coal, up 0.4 percent, both year on year.

Meanwhile, according to China's customs, in the January-September period of the current year, China imported 223 million mt of coal, down 6.7 percent year on year, while it exported 4.37 million mt of coal, down 26.1 percent year on year.
