China’s coal output down 3.5 percent in first quarter

In the first quarter of the current year, China produced 850 million mt of coal, down 3.5 percent year on year, while coal sales in China in the same period amounted to 800 million mt, down 4.7 percent year on year, as announced by the China National Coal Association (CNCA) on April 13.

Meanwhile, according to the CNCA, in the January-February period this year China's 90 large-scale coal producers recorded an aggregate loss of RMB 13.1 billion ($2.1 billion). Meanwhile, coal inventory levels in China remained over 300 million mt for the 39th consecutive month in February.
