China’s billlet/slab export & imports in May

According to the latest statistics, China imported 128'442 tons of billet/slab worth a combined $62.5 million in trade value in May. Ukraine topped all billet/slab exporters to China with its 26'857 tons in May. Venezuela followed with 16'923 tons, and Japan the third with 9'644 tons. China's total imports through the first five months of 2005 reached 647'249 tons and carried a trade value of $329.65 million. In the other direction, China exported 586'000 tons of billet/slab worth a total $237 million in May. China exported most of its billet/slab to Thailand (176'463 tons), followed by Taiwan (142'557 tons). China's total billet/slab exports through the first five months reached 4.25 million tons and carried a trade value of $1.7 billion.
