The China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) has stated that in early August (August 1-10) this year the average daily production of crude steel by large and medium-sized steel enterprises in China totaled 1,620,500 mt, up 0.88 percent compared to late July (July 21-31). In early August, the average daily crude steel production of all steelmakers in China amounted to 1,969,900 mt, with an increase of 1.05 percent compared with late July.

The CISA stated that in early August the overall output of steel enterprises in China indicated an increase despite the year-to-date losses registered by most mills in the country. It is thought that, given the increased output, steel sales prices are unlikely to recover in the coming period.
