SteelOrbis has been informed by market sources that China's steel exports in August are expected to register at around 5.18 million metric tons for finished steel products, and 250,000 metric tons for semi-finished steel products. However, no official announcement has been made yet. The Chinese government is expected to announce the official August export statistics next week.

China had exported 5.94 million metric tons of finished steel and 900,000 metric tons of semi-finished steel in July.

Due to routine overhauling works by steel mills and the elimination of outdated production capacity, Chinese steel production has decreased over the summer months. Meanwhile, due to the strong levels of exports throughout the current year, product availability has been quite tight since the beginning of July. The quantity of products offered for export has recently seen a dramatic decrease.
