China’s 2004 stainless output breaks 2 million tons

In 2004, China’s crude stainless steel output increased 32.95% year-on-year to 2.364 million tons, surpassing 2 million tons of annual output for the first time. Statistics from China Special Steel Enterprises Association (SSEA) indicate that China’s apparent stainless steel consumption in 2004 reached 4.47 million tons. This means that China, for the forth year in a row, was the world’s dominant consumer of stainless products. China’s per capita consumption of stainless steel reached 3.5kg, making it a leader among developing countries.
