China to up airport construction investments by 33 percent in 2009

In 2009 the total fixed assets investment of the Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC) is expected to reach RMB 80-100 billion ($11.7-14.6 billion), an increase of 33 percent compared to last year.

Of the total of 22 airport construction projects scheduled for 2009, three ongoing projects are due to reach completion during the year, namely, Tianjin Binhai Airport, Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and Wulumuqi Diwobao International Airport; there are nine expansion projects including those for Kunming New Airport and Hefei New Airport; and, finally, ten entirely new projects will be launched, such as those for Guangzhou Baiyun Airport and Shenzhen Baoan Airport.
