China sees declines in steel product imports and exports in April

According to the data released by the Chinese customs authorities, China exported 4.67 million mt of finished steel products in April, a decrease of 360,000 mt as compared to March this year and down by 2.14 percent year on year. At the same time, in the first four months of the current year, China's exports of finished steel products totaled 16.81 million mt, up by 10.2 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, China's imported 1.13 million mt of finished steel products in April, decreasing by 21.24 percent year on year and down 60,000 mt month on month. In the first four months, China's finished steel product imports amounted to 4.54 million mt, down by 18.3 percent year on year.

Furthermore, China imported 20,000 mt of steel billet in April and 130,000 mt in the first four months, but recorded no exports of billet.

In addition, China exported 40,000 mt of metallurgical coke in April and 290,000 mt in the January-April period.
