China to inspect ferroalloy firms

China's National Development and Reform Commission announced the implementation of a new regulation on China's ferroalloy production. According to the new regulation, China's ferroalloy producers will have to submit their company information on total capital, profits, production facilities, energy consumption and environmental protection to relevant regional development and reform commissions. These commissions will assess individual producers according to industrial standards published last year in terms of energy consumption and pollution. The government will later classify the companies in an attempt to both control energy consumption and pollution and prevent excess ferroalloy production.
